About Kendra Higgs
Licensed Counselling Therapist & Canadian Certified Counsellor serving Greater Saint John & virtually across New Brunswick
I’m a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), wife, and mom of two. I support individuals and couples through life’s tender, overwhelming, and deeply human transitions, including pregnancy and postpartum, relationship changes, religious deconstruction, identity shifts, and midlife change.
My work is rooted in the belief that no matter what you are experiencing, you make sense.
Over the years, both personally and professionally, I’ve come to understand how disorienting change can feel, especially when the emotions underneath it are difficult to explain or don’t seem to fit what others expect you to feel. I’ve experienced my own seasons of questioning long-held beliefs, navigating the emotional shifts of parenthood, and trying to find steadiness in moments that felt uncertain and overwhelming. Those experiences continue to shape how I show up in the therapy room today.
I know how lonely transitions can feel.
I also know how healing it can be to feel truly seen within them.
In my counselling practice, I aim to create a space where you don’t have to perform, hold it all together, or have the “right” words. A space where we can slow things down together, gently understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and make room for all the parts of your experience with compassion and curiosity.
My Approach
My work integrates somatic and trauma-informed approaches, drawing from modalities including:
AEDP
Somatic therapies
Narrative therapy
Emotion-focused approaches
Family systems theory
Polyvagal-informed perspectives
Self-compassion practices
Rather than focusing on fixing you, therapy becomes a space to better understand you.
Together, we may explore:
The emotional impact of major life transitions
Anxiety, overwhelm, and burnout
Shame and self-worth
Identity shifts and grief
Nervous system patterns and emotional capacity
Relationships, attachment, and connection
What it means to live more authentically and compassionately with yourself
I believe healing happens in relationship… in spaces where people feel safe enough to be honest, vulnerable and fully human.
THE VALUES THAT GUIDE MY WORK
Clarity
I help clients make sense of what feels overwhelming or difficult to name, creating understanding around their emotions, patterns, and experiences.
Compassion
I believe healing begins when we meet ourselves with gentleness instead of judgment, especially in the moments we feel most overwhelmed or ashamed.
Connection
Therapy is ultimately about reconnecting: to yourself, your emotions, your needs, and the people and values that matter most to you.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out for support.
Therapy isn’t about becoming a different person. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply, honouring your capacity, and finding steadiness within the season you’re in.
